2/2/2010. Tuolumne City (near Sonora, in the foothills) will be the host city for the Northern California 2010 Championship Race in June. NCSBD has been working to expand derby racing to other communities for some time, and the Tuolumne City area has shown strong community support for this sport. Area groups offering to help include the Chamber of Commerce, Tuolumne County Park and Recreation Department, Lions Club, 4-H Club, the Lumber Jubilee, Union Democrat newspaper, two car clubs, and more. Funding was recently approved for repaving Pine Street that will be used for the track.
Race Day is Saturday, June 19, 2010. Cars will run south on Pine and finish near the beautiful Tuolumne Memorial Park in the center of town. Click here for a map. This race will be the annual Championship Race for all of Northern California except for a small section near Mt. View. If you raced in Vallejo last June, this is the race for your geographical area. On Feb. 10, 2010, we will hold a general information meeting for all of those interested in helping with the Tuolumne City race. We will meet at the Delta Blood Bank, 850 Sanguinetti Rd., Sonora, CA 95370 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM in the main conference room. There is something to do for almost any skill or interest. 7/30/2009. West coast racers turned in a strong performance at the World Championships held in Akron, OH on July 25. In the Masters Division, Maddie Quinn placed 2nd overall, and three Rally Masters racers placed in the top nine: Kirsten Fauser, 2nd place (Salem); Cameron Reinhart, 4th place (Salem) and Wolfie Ruddell, 7th place (Los Angeles). In the Stock Rally Division, Jenna Mellen (Los Angeles) and Tucker McClaran (Salem) raced to 7th and 8th places, respectively.
